Insurance & Financial Policies
Dental Insurance
Our office will be happy to work with you to maximize your insurance benefits. It will be very important that you provide our office with all of your insurance information so that we can determine what kind of coverage you have and what benefits will apply to any treatment Dr. Williamson might recommend.
Working with dental insurance companies can be difficult. Many companies will not tell specific details necessary to determine benefits prior to treatment. They may only tell what they are going to pay after the treatment has been completed. Dr. Williamson’s staff has a great deal of experience working with all of the insurance carriers and will do their best to give you an estimate of what the insurance company is going to pay. Generally, the staff is very accurate at approximating insurance coverage; however, patients are responsible for the complete cost of their treatment regardless of what insurance covers.
Medical Insurance
Most dental treatment is not covered by medical insurance. In some cases where the dental problem is a direct result of a medical issue or where the dental procedure is necessary for medical therapy to begin, then medical insurance may cover some or all of the dental treatment necessary. If a dental procedure is going to be covered by medical insurance, you will need a referral from your primary care physician.
Trauma and Insurance Coverage
If your dental problem is a result of trauma, your medical insurance company will likely provide you with coverage for the necessary dental work. It is essential that you go to an emergency room or see a physician immediately following the trauma to document it. Without this documentation, the insurance company may not cover your dental therapy.
Financial Policy
Our team believes that everyone that wants to improve their oral health should have that opportunity. Because of this philosophy, we are going to do all we can to make the financial aspect of your care as easy as possible. Our office will make sure that you understand what will be expected from you financially before any treatment is done.
Patients are asked to pay in full at the time of service for the initial examination and any office visit that is less than $200. If the cost exceeds $200, you will be asked to pay your expected portion and we will file your insurance for anticipated reimbursement. Patients are ultimately responsible for payment of dental services regardless of the amount the insurance company pays.
